Summer’s Dream Quilted Handbag

Summer is just around the corner, and this shabby quilted handbag is ready and waiting! It’s made with a gorgeous combination of oh so shabby fabrics from the Summer’s Dream line by Paintbrush Studios. The colors are stunning. The outer side has a lemon chiffon background and the flowers and stripes are crimson, pale pink, dusty rose, sage green, leaf green, robin’s egg blue, and a hint of lavender. Battenburg lace, rick rack, a lovely vintage carved and painted button, and a delicate rose bow combine to give this handbag a truly shabby chic look. The back pocket is very large and is trimmed in white rick rack and white and blue stacked vintage buttons. The lining of the handbag is a robin’s egg blue with swirls of sage green and a deeper turquoise. There are two pockets inside and both are very roomy. As you can see in the picture, the pink floral pocket has a cubbyhole for your pens so they’ll always be handy for you. The larger pocket is trimmed in Battenburg lace and is divided down the middle, with room on one side for your cell phone, and ample room on the other for keys, lipsticks, etc. This lovely handbag stands 10” high, is 13” wide, and has a 3 ½” base. All of my handbags are made with two layers of quilt batting. One layer of batting is used on the handles, making them very comfortable either over the shoulder or held by hand. The pockets also have a layer of batting. All seams are double stitched as well as top stitched. Straps vary in length from 25” to 28”. Machine embroidery is used on many of my handbags, just to add dimension and interest. These bags are made to last! Because of trim and often used vintage lace and/or buttons and pins, dry cleaning is recommended. You can also spot clean with a mild detergent and touch up with an iron if necessary.
