Shabby Meets Retro Cottage Handbag
I made this delightful handbag using an
assortment of fabrics from Heather Bailey’s Freshcut collection. Her designs
are based on her love of quilting and vintage fabrics, giving them a modern
twist. The handbag is very roomy, measuring just under 9” high and 12 ˝” wide
with a 3” base. The straps have a 10” drop and work well over the shoulder as
well as hand held. The front has been piece quilted and is accented with a
wide little bow and vintage buttons. The back has a large 8 ˝” wide by 7” tall
pocket which I shaped and stitched similar to a jeans pocket. It’s trimmed in
apricot jumbo rick rack. There are two roomy pockets inside, one of which has
a cubbyhole for your pens. Every seam is double stitched as well as top
stitched and the lining is quilted to a layer of fusible batting. This is a
very versatile bag, and it would it make a nice gift!
